The Hometown Resource Center will again sponsor a Christmas giving program for the local community. This program supports families within the St. Charles area that have children up to 6th grade, by providing toys, clothing and other gifts.
Tags indicating desirable gifts will be distributed to local churches and the St. Charles Merchants Bank location after Thanksgiving. Please visit one of these locations and choose a card or cards from the display trees. In addition to the gifts for children, there is always a need for gift cards to local convenience stores and grocery stores, such as Mike’s Food Center and Kwik Trip.
Gifts must be returned to the Resource Center no later than Monday, December 10th. This will give our staff and volunteers time to organize and distribute gifts between December 11th and December 13th.
To qualify for gifts through our Christmas program, families must show proof that they meet annual income guidelines, show proof of a local St. Charles and the immediate area address and provide supporting information for children such as a school report card. Families who wish to participate in the program can visit the Resource Center during our normal hours (Monday through Friday, 9:00am-4:30pm) or reach us by phone (507) 932-5203.
In addition, the Hometown Resource Center partners with multiple programs through the holiday months. St. Charles has a Back Pack program that supplies much needed food for students over holiday school breaks. We coordinate with the Good Fellows program, which provides winter clothing to children in need. Food for Families is a great program that provides food on a monthly basis, above and beyond what the food shelf is able to provide. All of these programs welcome additional contributions during the holidays to help increase their efforts!
On behalf of all of us at the Hometown Resource Center, THANK YOU for your generosity in participating in our Christmas program and for helping to make the holidays a little brighter for families in need in our community!
